On the 27th, Samsung Electro-Mechanics’ Busan Plant received the Minister of Climate, Energy and Environment Award (Grand Prize) in the Excellent Green Company category at the 2025 Green Management and Green Finance Excellence Awards, hosted by the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment (hereinafter referred to as the “Ministry of Climate”) and the Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute.

The term “Excellent Green Company” refers to companies and business sites that contribute to establishing a green management system based on cooperative partnerships between the government and the private sector. Samsung Electro-Mechanics was first selected as an Excellent Green Company in 2011, and this marks its fourth recognition. The company was highly evaluated for its differentiated achievements in green management, including resource and energy conservation, waste reduction, and transparent disclosure of environmental information.

In particular, Samsung Electro-Mechanics significantly reduced wastewater discharge from the Busan Plant by improving its water treatment processes and building new treatment facilities. The company is also promoting various resource-circulation initiatives, such as installing solar power facilities, expanding water reuse, and introducing cleanroom suits made by upcycling PET film used in MLCC production. The “MLCC PET Film Cleanroom Suit” is regarded as a representative case of creating a virtuous resource-circulation system that utilizes discarded waste as a new resource, going beyond simple waste disposal.

Safety Environment Team Leader JongMin Choi (VP) stated, “Samsung Electro-Mechanics practices environmental management by comprehensively overseeing not only the entire product lifecycle—from production to disposal—but also the distribution and logistics stages. We will continue to minimize environmental impact while actively promoting various environmental conservation activities.”

Meanwhile, Samsung Electro-Mechanics has strengthened its position as a leading company in ESG management. It has become the first in Korea to be listed in the DJSI World Index for 16 consecutive years, the first in the domestic industry to receive Carbon Footprint certification, included in the FTSE4Good Index for 15 consecutive years, awarded CDP Korea Hall of Fame Platinum, and achieved Zero Waste to Landfill certification across all domestic and overseas business sites.
