Samsung Electro-Mechanics, Special Lecture at Yonsei University Department of Materials Science & Engineering

Executive Vice President Choi Jeremy, head of Component Unit at Samsung Electro-Mechanics, gave a special lecture on the 23rd to the graduate students of the Department of Materials Science & Engineering at Yonsei University. The lecture was attended by roughly 150 master’s and doctorate graduate students, with the theme of “material technology innovation and industrial trends of electronic components.”

Choi began by presenting the company, as well as the function and significance of MLCC in relation to current trends in the electronic component industry. In particular, he gave a roadmap, outlining Samsung Electro-Mechanics’ mid- to long-term strategies of Mi-RAE Project.

* Mi-RAE Project: A project to use the fundamental technologies of Samsung Electro-Mechanics, including MLCC, camera module, package substrate, to transform the structure of future industries such as automotives, robots, AI/servers, and energy.

“MLCCs are the product of materials and chemical engineering, equipment technology for precision machining, and design technology for optimal performance,” explained Choi. “In order to thin the dielectric - the fundamental technology of MLCC - the powder must be atomized,” he stated, highlighting the significance of materials and material engineering.

Samsung Electro-Mechanics is carrying out various activities to secure technical talent, such as the “Tech & Career Forum” which is an event to invite master’s and doctoral level talent, and “Visiting Special Lectures,” etc.
