"ESG Achievement Recognition" Samsung Electro-Mechanics, selected for the highest rank of “CDP Climate Change Response” for four consecutive years

◇ Selected for the Platinum Club (highest rank) in the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) climate change response assessment

On the 28th, Samsung Electro-Mechanics revealed that it was selected for the “Platinum Club”, the highest rank in the 2020 CDP climate change response assessment, for four consecutive years.
 
The Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) is a global non-profit institution that publicizes information on the climate change response strategy, greenhouse gas emissions information, and reductions initiatives for global major publicly listed companies to investors and financial institutions, and the CDP assessment results are recognized as the most reliable sustainably indices, along with the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) and the FTSE4GOOD Index.
 
This CDP climate change response assessment evaluated 80 items across 3 areas with regards to climate change response, including management’s understanding of climate change and greenhouse gas emissions calculations, for 5,800 global companies and 224 local companies.
 
Samsung Electro-Mechanics established a climate change response team and received the highest rank by receiving high scores across all assessment items through transparent and third-party-verified publication of its energy reduction activities and overseas business greenhouse gas emissions, including ▲ implementation of high-efficiency energy reduction equipment, including refrigerators, ▲ optimized management of room temperature during Winter/Summer seasons, ▲ and improvement of operation methods for utility equipment.
 
Since 2009, Samsung Electro-Mechanics has been participating in CDP and since Mar. 2014, it was selected for the 「CDP Hall of Fame」 for seven consecutive years, proving itself as an exceptional company in the area of carbon management.

Samsung Electro-Mechanics recently established a Sustainability Secretariat, which is in charge of ESG, and has developed a data-based roadmap to systematically carry out its ESG initiatives. 

 


Samsung Electro-Mechanics’ sustainability-related activities have resulted in being nominated for the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI) for 12 consecutive years, FTSE4Good Index for 10 consecutive years, and Grade A during the 2020 ESG Comprehensive Grade Assessment sponsored by the Korea Corporate Governance Service.
